The Van Tonder family brings together the rich meat heritage of South Africa with the craftsmanship of Austria. Our specialities are made according to family recipes passed down through generations. Today, in partnership with Pur Naturhof, they are handcrafted in Styria using premium Austrian organic beef, organic pork, organic lamb and locally sourced venison, and are finished with carefully selected seasonings from SATI Spices.

Every product reflects our commitment to authenticity, quality and respect for traditional methods. The result is a unique range of specialities that combines South African heritage with Austrian provenance and craftsmanship.

South African Heritage

The roots of VAN T's lie in South Africa, where Biltong, Droëwors and Boerewors have been part of everyday life and family gatherings for generations. Our recipes preserve these authentic flavours and traditions, bringing a true taste of South Africa to Austria.

Together with trusted regional partners, we combine traditional processing methods, premium raw materials and uncompromising quality standards to create products that celebrate both heritage and craftsmanship.

Boerewors and Biltong in the Free State, bacon on a Styrian farm. From two childhoods grew one family, and from one family came VAN T's. Crafted in Styria according to South African family recipes, using organic Austrian pork, beef and lamb, together with venison from the pur Naturhof's own hunting grounds. Finished with SATI Spices and Pinot Nero wine vinegar from Acetaia PAHONTU in Italy's Euganean Hills.

Who We Are

Eben van Tonder

Born and raised in South Africa, Eben has spent more than 30 years developing meat products, traditional recipes and production systems. His passion for authentic South African flavours and generations of family tradition forms the foundation of every VAN T's speciality.

Kristi van Tonder

As an entrepreneur, Christa, Eben's wife and business partner, combines communication, branding and project development with a passion for regional food culture. She helps shape the VAN T's brand, ensuring that quality, authenticity and provenance define every product.

Juanita Esterhuizen van Tonder

Juanita is the organisational heart of our South African and oversees finance, administration and the day to day running of the business, ensuring that everything behind the scenes operates smoothly. Her dedication and attention to detail are an essential part of the Van Tonder family business.
